How to encrypt and decrypt my files

A step-by-step guide for encrypting files without an account.

You can use DocuLock's Encrypt tool without logging in. It supports encrypting a single file or an entire folder of files.

Step 1: Open the Encrypt tool

Go to the Encrypt tool and choose what you want to protect: one file or a folder. Uploading a folder keeps your files grouped for encryption in one operation.

Step 2: Encrypt your upload

After encryption completes, one upload effectively becomes two downloadable files:

  • .dclk file — the encrypted data
  • .dclkey file — the generated key file used to unlock that encrypted data

Think of it as one original file splitting into two required parts. Keep both files in secure locations. If either file is missing, the other file is useless for recovery.

Step 3: Decrypt and recover your original file

To get the original file back:

  1. Open the Encrypt tool again.
  2. Upload the .dclk file.
  3. Upload the matching .dclkey file.
  4. The key unlocks the encrypted file and DocuLock returns your original file.
  5. Save the recovered file anywhere on your computer.
